Chinatown Claypot Rice @ Jurong West St 52

Chinatown Claypot Rice is located at Jurong West 505 Market and Food Centre. Previously, the multi-storey carpark was still under construction and the stall was blocked off from the outside view. The multi-storey carpark has been completed and the area is much cleaner and without much noise.

You can park at the ERP carpark and enjoy your claypot rice without worrying that the carpark attendant will come and summon you.

There is a number to call to order your claypot if you do not want to wait. Normally, I would order my claypot 20 minutes in advance to avoid disappointment and queuing. The wait can be quite long almost 30 minutes if there is dinner crowd. If you couldn't find the number online, you can email me to get the number to call.

The rice is cooked from raw and it takes some time for the rice to be cooked. The claypot for 2 persons is $8. They also have Bak Ku Teh if you want to have something different. The black bean soup is a must try item also, at $3 per bowl.

You need to add your own dark soya sauce and the amount is determined by you. We skipped the oil as we think it is healthier without the extra oil. Normally, we would remove all the ingredients to a clean bowl and then add the dark soya sauce to blacken the rice. You need to mix it well and try to remove the rice that sticks onto the bottom. After you have mixed well, either you put back the ingredients or just eat as per normal. The chilli sauce is great and you need to try it too.

The black beans soup is valued for money and very tasty. Normally I would order one bowl first and then another bowl after I have finished the first. There are chicken feet in the soup too and they are very soft and melt in your mouth. Must try this!
